Product Details

The PowerShares FTSE RAFI Asia Pacific ex-Japan Portfolio (Fund) is based on the FTSE RAFI Developed Asia Pacific ex Japan Index (Index). The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in securities that comprise the Index and American Depository Receipts (ADRs) based on the securities in the Index. The Index is designed to track the performance of the largest equities of companies domiciled in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan), selected based on the following four fundamental measures of firm size: book value, cash flow, sales and dividends. The equities with the highest fundamental strength are weighted according to their fundamental scores. The Index is computed using the net return, which withholds applicable taxes for non-resident investors. The Fund and the Index are reconstituted annually.

 Risk & Other Information

Typically, security classifications used in calculating allocation tables are as of the last trading day of the previous month.

There are risks involved with investing in ETFs, including possible loss of money. Shares are not actively managed and are subject to risks similar to those of stocks, including those regarding short selling and margin maintenance requirements. Ordinary brokerage commissions apply. The Fund's return may not match the return of the Underlying Index.

Investment in securities in emerging market countries involves risks not associated with investments in securities in developed countries.

Foreign securities have additional risks, including exchange-rate changes, decreased market liquidity, political instability and taxation by foreign governments.

American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) involve many of the same risks as those associated with direct investment in foreign securities. In addition, the underlying issuers of certain depositary receipts, particularly unsponsored or unregistered depositary receipts, are under no obligation to distribute shareholder communications to the holders of such receipts or to pass through to them any voting rights with respect to the deposited securities.

The dollar value of the fund's foreign investments will be affected by changes in the exchange rates between the dollar and the currencies in which those investments are traded.

Global Depositary Receipts involve the same risks as those associated with ADRs. They are also subject to currency, political, economic and market risks because their values depend on the performance of non-dollar denominated underlying foreign securities.

A natural or other disaster could occur in a geographic region in which the Fund invests, which could adversely impact the Fund's investments in the affected region.

Investing in securities of medium-sized companies may involve greater risk than is customarily associated with investing in large companies.

The economies of the countries in the Asia Pacific region are largely intertwined, if an economic recession is experienced by any of these countries, it will likely adversely impact the economic performance of other countries in the region.

Investments focused in a particular industry or sector, such as the financial service sectors are subject to greater risk, and are more greatly impacted by market volatility, than more diversified investments.

Equity risk is the risk that the value of equity securities, including common stocks, may fall due to both changes in general economic and political conditions that impact the market as a whole, as well as factors that directly relate to a specific company or its industry.

The MSCI Pacific ex Japan Index is an unmanaged index considered representative of stocks of Asia Pacific countries excluding Japan; and stocks of Europe, Australasia and the Far East. This index is computed using the net return, which withholds applicable taxes for non-resident investors.
