Our seventh global sovereign asset management study (2019) represents the views of 139 chief investment officers, heads of asset classes and senior portfolio strategists, working within 68 sovereign funds and 71 central banks (with assets totalling in excess of US$20 trillion under management.1       

The five key themes in this year’s report seek to build on the findings from previous years’ studies by analysing long-term trends as well as covering new insights.

  2. Investing at scale
  3. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) integration continues at pace with environmental factors to the fore
  4. Technology investors, late technology adopters
  5. Central banks seek liquidity and safety, shifting away from the US Dollar and towards gold and China
