2022 Edition

Shifting DC Times

Our defined contribution publication provides thought-provoking insights and innovative ideas you can turn into action.

Transcript

Invesco’s latest defined contribution publication, Shifting DC Times, features innovative thinking and ideas, all centered around four key components impacting participant outcomes: plan design, participant engagement, plan governance and investment menu design.

In the latest issue, we talked with Keith Knox, Treasurer, Tax Collector, and Public Administrator for the County of Los Angeles. He oversees the investments within the County’s 457(b) Horizons and 401(k) Savings Plans.

He shared with us how the County quickly adapted to virtual communications during the pandemic, and why they’re encouraging participants to keep their DC assets in their plans post-retirement.

Ron Zibelli, Chief Investment Officer for Growth Equities, along with Justin Livengood, Senior Portfolio Manager, say many plan participants are missing out on the opportunity to include mid-cap strategies in their equity allocations.

They discuss how adding a dedicated mid-cap allocation may help participants strengthen retirement outcome potential by expanding diversification across a broader range of US equity markets.

Fred Reish offers insight on the US Department of Labor’s proposed regulation with new standards for selecting investments in ERISA-governed retirement plans in which an investment manager uses environmental, social, and governance factors in its investment process.

Cybersecurity is a growing concern for plan sponsors and recordkeepers.

Securing the personal data and assets of participants is a critical aspect of being a plan fiduciary. We offer ideas plan sponsors can implement to help participants combat cybercrime and protect their retirement plan savings.

Offering a Roth 401(k) option may help participants better diversity their tax liability among pre-tax and after-tax accounts. We’ll share key considerations and potential benefits for including a Roth option in the plan, including auto-enrollment and which participant segments may benefit the most.
